Liss Finney, Each, 2025. Mixed casting mediums, steel, timber. 210x60x210cm

Each combines both ephemeral and enduring materials, and engaged repetitive, ritualistic processes to investigate themes of presence, absence, and the porous nature of the body. Acknowledging the inability to confine existence within material forms, these objects stand in as echoes of the absent body.

Exploring where the physicality of the body intersects with broader ideas of legacy and representation, I am curious about traditional methods of mediating the ephemeral nature of existence and what is left to remain.

Each is part of Liss’ masters research, and was developed as part of the 2025 Brenda Clouten Memorial Arts Scholarship, where it was exhibited at Maitland Regional Art Gallery in the finalists exhibition and received ‘Runner Up’ - a grant that supported her to take part in the 2025 Tropical LAB residency in Singapore.
